Upgrading My Singlespeed: Tensioner
My Bianchi has a Forte tensioner which I’m going to put on my next project bike for the time being. Shimano Alfine ~$24. It’s a double. Paul Melvin ~$70. This is also a double. Rennen Rollenlager ~$50 if I buy direct. Surly Singleator ~$36. Read so so review. I’ll work on spacers another day. That’s the minimum I need to hook up my Nishiki since I have a few more cogs.

Considering the stuff I’m going to be connecting to this thing I can use all the help I...

Revolution’s AXEpad works on Window, Linux and Mac. They even have compiler binaries ready to go for all three systems. This, along with QuickTerm eliminates the need to run Windows within Mac OS X. Hooray!

PL-2303 Software and Drivers →
So many no-name USB-to-Serial converters. Some even have the nerve to say they don’t support Mac OS X. Lies! Prolific (how appropriate) supplies most of the microprocessors for these things and their website has all the drivers you need.

Mobile OS shootout: iPhone OS 3.0 enters the fray →
An Engadget review of the best smartphone OSs: iPhone OS, Android, webOS, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and S60. It’s obvious from the homepage screenshots that the UI made popular by the Palm Pilot isn’t going away anytime soon.

Hulu get defensive! →
It seems Hulu is encoding HTML to prevent third-party apps from scraping their website. I don’t understand what the problem is, especially since commercials are already part of the package. Are programs like Boxee stripping them out? If that’s the case Hulu should just encode media with commercials in place. Yes, I know advertisements change. Re-encode them. It’s a waste of cpu...
